Being busy all the time has it's drawbacks. Working 2 (3?) jobs isn't always fun. I apologize if you're waiting on a response to your email, or a trade, or a master: I swear I'm working on everything all at once.

Several new releases are available! Details can be found on this page if you haven't found them already. Something I'm most proud of is the Seagull Stop Your Schemes triple CD-R, it was a labour of love (with an emphasis on the labour). Covers for the initial copies come printed on kraft paper. Please note that no distortion/fuzz pedals were used in this recording.

Upcoming live aktion: November 19 at Fake Jazz/Cobalt, do-over of the infamous 3-minute October 8 show, Heather and Mike playing nothing but filing cabinets. With jeff younger's "devil loops"//darren williams & kenton loewen//broken sleep//flatline construct. FLATLINE CONSTRUCT!?! WTF!?!

Several new releases available:
Seagull Mic Stand Bizcard CD-R
Seagull Sad Wings Of Reverse Destiny Bizcard CD-R
Crotch Bear Prophet (Reissue) CD-R

Upcoming live performance: Wednesday October 8th at the Cobalt (as part of Fake Jazz), appearing with The Rita, Sick Buildings, Flatgrey, Taskmaster, Griefer and Ruskala (I think). This is a fundraiser for the upcoming Taskmaster tour plus a release party for the Vancouver double 7" so make sure you make it!

Seagull All That Stands Before You Must Surely Be Destroyed 3" CD-R

The long-planned I Just Died 8" square lathe is back in production (sent back to NZ!), look for that before 2010.

After a lengthy delay, Smoke Filled Casket is back with a bunch of new stuff and an updated website (which is basically a copy of the Ketchup Cavern site because I was too lazy to come up with something new).

There are several new releases available: a reissue of the Seagull From Grass And Earth C20, Seagull The Sun Speaks His Hand C56 and Crotch Bear Prophet C30. I apologize that prices are high, the extra cost for tapes is due to postage. Canada Post is ripping us off.

Also available: A Spider Lives In The Apple's Core CDR on Brise-Cul. I am extremely happy to be a part of the Brise-Cul empire, if you don't have a copy of this drop me a line!

Coming soon: an I Just Died 8" square lathe cut record (plus a CDR of additional recordings) and the infamous Seagull The Announcer Abandons His Post For A Dream Of Light C2 + C10 + badge + cloth bag. On other labels: a tape on Rundownsun (hopefully!) and tracks on compilations to be released by Militant Walls and 5nakefork.

Upcoming live aktions:

Available now: Sleeping Police / I Just Died mail collaboration 3" CDR and Seagull "Live In Newfoundland" CDR.

Speaking of Newfoundland, the show in St. Johns was awesome! Thanks to Gabe, Dan, Turner's Tavern, and all who attended. Youtube madness: Seagull 1 2, Seagull + Graveyard Water 1 2 3.

If you're in Vancouver on September 30th, be sure to check out the Oscillating Innards/Horned Bastion show, also featuring False Creak (The Rita/Sick Buildings/Taskmaster), Sistrenatus, and Flatgrey. It's at Antisocial, which is a skateboard shop (?), Vancouver needs more venues. This show should rule.

Ketchup Cavern #2 (Lasse Marhaug 1-sided 7") is at the plant as we speak, waiting on test pressings. Look out for an update sometime this fall. Stoked!

Upcoming show: 8 PM, August 19th, Turner's Tavern, St. Johns NF. Performing with Graveyard Water. Free!

Werewolf Jerusalem show was awesome, hope you were there. Props to Summer Swanson for sitting in, thanks to Richard, Sam, Josh, Ron, Eric, Nick, Keith, Fernando, and everyone else who performed/helped out/showed up/fetched us beer. Total radness! Here's a short Youtube video of us playing.

Out NOW: I Just Died "Telegraphs Trapped In The Negative Mouth" 3" CDR.

Forthcoming: mail collaborations with Sleeping Police (now) and Wapstan (later), Seagull CDR on Brise-Cul.

"Last Times" cassette is now available, it is a recording of the last time (go figure) I jammed at the Hastings St. rehearsal space which more than anything helped define the Seagull sound. Thanks to Heather and Yvette for assistance/gear/etc/♥.

The "Conqueror Worm" 1-sided 7" is available on Ketchup Cavern. More vinyl soon hopefully.

Thanks to the Fake Jazz folks for putting us on. Read a review here.

New website: many delays with the redesign, mainly due to my complete incompetence when it comes to making websites.

New releases coming soon: the Seagull "Conqueror Worm" 1-sided 7" is being pressed right now and should be available in April. Very excited about first vinyl release, will be released under the Ketchup Cavern imprint.

Also up next is the "Last Times" cassette, 28 minutes one-sided (track repeats on both sides). Screenprinting the covers as we speak.

Upcoming Live Actions:

  • May 16th 2007: The Cobalt 917 Main Street, Vancouver BC. Appearing with Three Bees, Ian Wyatt, Mutators and Sick Buildings as part of Fake Jazz Wednesdays.
  • May 25/26 2007: performing at the 6th Annual Victoria Festival of Noise, details tba.
  • August: St. Johns Newfoundland, details tba.
